It was also accused of polluting the river with its processing byproducts. In 1907 the Glucose Factory was wiped out by fire.

Q. The Bennett Mill produced Year Round pancake flour in 1898 as one of the many flours they marketed. During those“heydays” at the mill how many barrels of flour were produced every twenty four hours?
During the 1890s the Bennett Mill ran seven days a week usually year round. Established as a flour mill in 1865 the turn of the century was the mill’s busiest period shipping flour as far away as Scotland. World War I started the mill’s decline even with very active marketing of a large product line of specialty flours. Over time, a variety of market factors led to the eventual closing of
1950. The mill building was destroyed by a spectacular fire “of mysterious origin” in 1971. One of Geneva’s longest lived and most successful businesses the Bennett Mill is well documented in the Geneva History Center’s archives.
