Join us for the Brown Bag Lunch Series which runs from September through May. We meet on the second Tuesday of every month at Noon. Each presentation will take place in the Community Room at the Geneva History Center, 113 South Third Street, in the heart of Geneva’s historic downtown. Walking Tours
Having a family reunion, guests coming to town or just wanting to learn more about Geneva’s early history? Discover Geneva by booking a special guided tour with a knowledgeable museum guide who leads you on an engaging walk through some of the community’s most historic and picturesque neighborhoods. Be sure to dress for the weather and bring water. If you prefer to sit back and relax in the comfort of a chair, all of the walking tours are available as PowerPoint presentations. In addition, bus tours are available for all walking tours, but you must provide the bus. Guided Walking Tour of Historic Downtown Geneva
Discover Geneva’s Historic District from the refurbished downtown storefronts to the dozens of treasured Third Street homes that now house unique specialty shops and quaint eateries. The guide will acquaint you with historic points of interest, as well as many of Geneva’s notable landmark buildings, such as the Kane County Courthouse.
∙ Cost: $10/person; $8 for GHC members (Minimum fee of $50.00) ∙ Length of tour: 75 minutes ∙ Tour starts at: Geneva History Center Guided Walking Tour of Geneva’s Public Art Explore Geneva’s incredible public art through a walking tour with the Geneva History Center’s expert guide. Highlights include a dramatic sculpture of Shakespeare’s Nick Bottom, “The Rainman” , The Lincoln Highway mural and more. Hear the stories behind the art and learn about the artists who created the community’s masterpieces. ∙ Cost: $10/person; $8 for GHC members (Minimum fee of $50.00) ∙ Length of tour: 75 minutes. ∙ Tour starts at: Geneva History Center East Side Walking Tour Explore some of Geneva’s most interesting, but overlooked neighborhoods, on the East Side of town. The guided walking tour will feature quaint cottages and grand homes, as well as stories about immigrants, pioneers, businessmen and even a few scoundrels. ∙ Cost: $10/person; $8 for GHC members (Minimum fee of $50.00 ) ∙ Length of tour: 75 minutes ∙ Tour starts at: Nebraska Street, south of Malone Funeral Home (324 E. State St.) North Side Walking Tour Geneva has come a long way --from the “impossible dream” of an ambitious pioneer to create a town that became the Kane County Seat to today’s thriving city. The guided tour will feature some of Geneva’s oldest churches and quaint homes north of State Street, as well as stories about some of Geneva’s earliest settlers.
